I just finished an EPIC shift at work. Well, not so epic as it was only 11 and a half hours. Anyway, the funny part.

My Mum was just telling me about what Oscar has been doing today. For those who are unsure, this is Oscar:
DSC_1968
He's an old cat. He has an arthritic hip and is fed steroids to combat a snotty nose that gets inflamed. Because of his hip, he cant jump very high at all, but has incredibly strong front paws/arms.

This morning he was seen in the garden eating a bird. It is unlikely that he killed it. It was most probably this beast, Ziggy:
Ziggy the cat
Anyway, he ate it. It was apparently revolting. I didn't see the deed as i was at work, but i was told it was gross.

He then went on to eat his cat food for the morning.

Later on, he jumped into the chicken run with the chickens. Something he NEVER does. He then proceeded to barf quite violently. As he did this, all the chickens saw it and thought OOOH FOOOD!!! And ran towards him freaking him out making him barf more. My Mum had to run in, scoop up the sick and bin it before the chickens ate it, and rescue Oscar.

Weird eh?

Anyway. I get to see Madelaine tomorrow :D all i gotta do is ensure my thumb is extracted from my arse and i get some work done at college. THE PRESSURE IS ON. (i'm going to stop with the metaphors now)

I fell asleep last night at a really really early hour. I had too many days with too little sleep. I woke up finally this morning at 04:35 rather amazed at how blue the sky was. I quickly glanced at the news and read the bombshell that 8 out of the 10 current teams in Formula 1 have had enough of Bernie Ecclestone and Max Mosley and are intending to make their own championship.

There are enough websites which explain how this has come about. What interests me is: If there is a breakaway series, what circuits will be raced, what kind of rules will there be, what aid will there be for smaller teams wishing to compete.

A good way to save money is not change the rules so drastically each year. R&D costs are by nature very high and if the rules and regulations change yearly, you end up spending money but not reaping the benefits for more than 4-8 months before you have to start again.

The Silverstone circuit is likely to want to be part of any new series, as they have been told repeatedly that they aren't going to be back on the F1 calendar for at least 17 years. Bernie Ecclestone said if Donington park isnt ready for when it takes over the British GP in 2010, then there just wont be one.

The fans are in agreement over the circuits fiasco, with there no longer being any F1 activity in North America, both of which would usually fully sell out of tickets. France cancelled their GP after prohibitive costs also. At the same time, exotic locations such as Turkey and Bahrain remain on the Calendar, yet there aren't many fans that care for the sport there. (At Turkey there was 40,000 spectators out of a max capacity of 150k).

I know a lot of people find politics in sport tedious, but i find it rather absorbing and interesting. I will be watching carefully what happens. I will quite likely watch both series' if any breakaway happens. I'll be focussing on the breakaway, but i cant wait to see ForceIndia and Williams fighting it out for the constructors championship.

Enough F1Bawwwwww.

I walked up the stairs and Oscar was sat there looking pretty. I remarked at how clear his face was (he usually has major snot problems around his nose) and he looked at me and blew a bubble out of his nostril !

I have a presentation to make today. I'm jotting down notes. The powerpoint half of the presentation has to be e-mailed off today. I have an interview next Wednesday. I've been focussing really hard on getting my college work done, that i haven't really been giving this the attention it really needs. Regardless, i will give it my all, and hopefully receive the sponsorship/job in question.

I woke up at 11:10am which i'm really impressed with. I went to bed last night at 11:15pm, much to the dismay of one of my friends on msn. After nearly a solid 12 hour sleep session i've never felt so good waking up. I usually feel like death regardless of when i wake.

Anyway this post could be boring, but i'll lighten it up with pictures. i promise!

I went to the shop, i bought bread, crumpets, hobnobs and a chicken sandwich. i had the chicken sandwich obv.

I then studied some maths for an hour or so. Dealing with Significant figures & Decimal places, i went on to start working through Sets, which included a load of new mathematical symbols which i hadn't used before. My brain was well and truly frazzled.

I went to the kitchen to put the kettle on, but me being me, i thought; hmm i wonder if i could fix the lid of the kettle spout? This is the bit which you flick up or down once it's boiling to stop it whistling. It was kinda broken because the pin which went through the lid to hold it to the spout was only half through meaning the lid fell off sometimes, and it was hard to thread the pin all the way through.

Anyway, after a big of hammering with a knife (nice use of tools) and wiggling it around a bit i managed to fix it. For the love of God dont read that last sentence out of context!

I was quite proud of fixing what hadn't been able to be fixed for months! so i proclaimed how happy i was on the blackboard.

Attracted to the sounds of me saying how amazing and great i am (to myself, but out loud) Paddy came to see what all the commotion was about.

Anyway, after all that patting self on the back, and fixing the kettle, i finally put the kettle on to boil, and made myself a cup of coffee. Not wanting to drink coffee on its own, i contemplated making some crumpets, but i realised i needed them for tomorrow as i find it very hard to find any breakfast materials in this house worth eating. So i settled for the rather respectable Hobnob biscuits instead.

No i did not eat them all.

Whilst enjoying my coffee and biscuits, Paddy came back with a vengeance and tried to slyly steal some.

He did not succeed.

So that is the day so far. Enclosed below is a picture of myself drinking coffee, this is to show my haircut to Phae. Thanks for reading

I sneezed, i hope i'm not becoming ill, but i am due to be sick. I haven't been afflicted by illness for a good half a year or so now.

In other news; Paddy, youngest cat i have, is afraid of foamed polystyrene.

so a quick recap:

The cat is afraid of foamed polystyrene, feather dusters, and balloons.

Strange..

Aint he adorable? I took a picture of my cat, Oscar, because he was sleeping underneath a table in the greenhouse. Unfortunately as i came down with a camera and crouched down to get a good angle, i woke him and he came to lick me to death. Luckily he failed, and i just suffered a severe sneezing on. As you can see, he's licking up his green goodness foaming from his nose.

In other news

It's beautiful weather here in Leicester and i'm determined not to be infront of the computer missing it all. I also want to stop being so idle, and doing something during the week. I grabbed my shorts (i knew i had a pair SOMEWHERE) grabbed my trainers (worn 3 times since bought last year), and went for a run/jog to the next village of Gaulby across the fields. It was painfully apparent  that i'm not as in shape as i used to be when i worked in the warehouse. But meh, no pain no gain! I came home a sweaty mess and jumped into a nice cold shower.

Anyway, now i've made dinner, I'm going to the pub. You're welcome to join me. ciao!

Click for a bigger picture of my PussyPaddy is the name of the youngest of my 3 cats. Well, they arent MINE, they're the families. And in that sense, they're just my Mother's as she's the one who wants to get em. No complaints from me ofc, they're furry and keep you warm etc. They also make great alarm clocks if you leave your bedroom door open, and offer light entertainment.

Paddy aka The Panther,  is a bit mad. Of course all kitties are mad, and each of my cats have their own personality. Paddy is a bit mad. As we got him at about 7 weeks old, my Mum didn't let him outside until he was neutered and had his injections etc cos of all the other cats in the neighbourhood so that took a few months. So once he could go outside it was mid-winter and he didn't really want to go outside in 40mph winds, rain and hail. Now the weather is (slightly) better, he does go out. He doesnt go too far though, just lurks around in the backgarden and hides underneath the shed. Paddy is still reluctant to go out during the day for some reason. You can open the door and he will stand right at the doors edge and just stay there. Once it grows dark and he races outside like nothing you've ever seen! Under the cover of darkness he races around the garden and stuff. Very random. I reckon it's because he's all black, and at night he can become invisible! (or so he feels). Good on him!

The residents of Houghton are safe in mind and to live with. Honest!
Lately at home everything is breaking in some shape or form. The lock on the upstairs bathroom sticks so cant be used (unless you enjoy shouting for help). The washing machine broke the other day also, which should hopefully be repaired or replaced on Tuesday. As my mother put it, it's the first time extended warranty has come bloody useful. Another slight problem is we did have ants appear in the kitchen a few months back. Not too surprising as it's all tiles and there's a few cracks here and there. First time it has happened though. We put down some ant powder but didnt want the cats thinking it was tastey and licking it up so we put some tape to cover it over and make it impossible for them to lick it up. It may be unlikely that they would do such a thing, but these cats do nutty things when hungry.

Now the weather is good i want to sit outside with my laptop so i can say i have been outside, even if it was just binging on the internet. Slight problem is most the garden furniture we have has either been blown away (well i dont know where it went), or is old or damaged from storms. We still have like 4 plastic chairs which are sunbleached pale green over the years, and a table with 4 legs currently dissassembled. I had a look at the table top and saw there are cracks where the legs slot into the underside of it. Kinda offputting for me to assemble it, as i wont be willing to place anything i value ontop of it (like laptop, food, cats, my arms).

As for the picture on the right, I do recall this blackboard being up in the old kitchen before it got 'done up'. It's used to list food and stuff we need. Of course my brothers, nor me cant be farsed with this, as we either buy stuff ourselves or pester in person. and so it gets somewhat abused as pictured. I'll admit i did write most of that, but i didnt write "The antz will get their revenge!". I am guessing that was my younger brother or the ants themselves.

Admittedly so, I have been playing World of Warcraft again. Its a good way to pass the time as even though i should be doing something productive, there's always something that puts me off, or prevents me from doing so. Be it, lazyness, crap weather, feeling crap, looking crap, idleitus, lack of focus, etc.

Since i had installed my core2duo cpu into this pc though, gaming is a dream. I was remarking to a friends online that this is the first pc that i have owned for more than a year, and havent felt is old or slow. Many pcs i have used in the past feel like they are outdated or old 12-18 months down the line, which is technically true according to Moore's law. This pc is perfect for me still. My only criticism is that my graphics card is too loud, but that's hereditory to the chipset on it (ati x1900 chipsets run at molten temperatures and employ mini jet engines to extract heat i swear!). But hey! the card works, it gives fantastic fps (as it should do for £200) and i wouldnt be gaining much by replacing it as i'd only upgrade it.

Some pretty screenshots below. You may need to zoom in to get a good view, as with all the pictures in this post.
